Opiatic Dreamscapes and Experimentalism

Tracing Archaic Names started as result of Mark Gordon Brown and Matt Greenwald getting together and searching for music that they wanted to hear. After a long period of discussions about music, art, philosophy, and other more mundane topics they began to experiment with various instruments and effects processing and came to the realization that taking music to extremes meant that one must also include subtleties in this as is so often neglected by many experimental musicians at present. This came about by thinking of the way we dream. In dreams all of peoples fears and hopes play cyrtic little tricks on them and are often more like a feather tickling ones cheek or a child kiss then they are like the blow of some brute's fist. At this time Mark began to experiment on his own with sleep depravation and low food intake to invoke a dream-like state that would last for days at a time. Many of Tracing Archaic Names recordings are recording during these periods of time which aid in th creation of thought patterns that at times seem a product of severe psychosis and at other times as if they are tapping into the shaman or sage's link to the ancient weavers of all that is and pulling back their arcane lessons. All of this is combined with the mundane aspects of life and with streams of erotisism flowing in at times given structure by Mark and Matt and sometimes a good beat by Matt. Also helping to create these dreamscape are Kynda Kerr who adds whispy vocals to certin tracks while on others layers imrovisational and structured vocal backgorunds by Mark's 9 year old son Seth complete these works.....
